Member Highlight: Hilltop Alliance
Leadership: Aaron Sukenik, Executive Director (pictured to the right), started in March 2013. Pursuing funding to implement recommendations of the 2012 Green ToolBox Assessment.Prior to the Hilltop Alliance, Aaron served as Township Manager in Elizabeth Township, Business District Manager at the South Side Local Development Company, and as a Pittsburgh City Council (District 3) staff member. Since early March, the Hilltop Alliance also brought on Tim Dolan, Programs & Communications Specialist / Office Manager, who previously served in the same position at the South Side Local Development Company.History: The Hilltop Alliance is structured as a collaborative organization comprised of community-based organizations from eleven South Pittsburgh neighborhoods. As an umbrella organization, the primary goal of the Hilltop Alliance is to connect neighborhood-based organizations and leverage their individual efforts, creating a shared vision and voice for the Hilltop, thereby preserving and creating Hilltop assets. Our mission is to bring together, serve as a resource, and promote a common vision within the Hilltop neighborhoods.Current Projects:
- Completing the Hilltop Housing Study (Allentown & Beltzhoover).
- Pursuing funding for four neighborhood-specific Code Enforcement Task Forces, modeled after Lawrenceville United and Oakland’s “Oakwatch” programs.
- Encouraging home buying on the Hilltop, connecting interested Hilltop homebuyers with credit counselors and the best available mortgage interest rates.
- Fresh Fridays on the Hilltop.
