Undesirable

There is a new show beginning soon that will focus on creating the ‘perfect’ male and female. The trailer has a human putting fake skin over a robot that has the face of a beautiful woman. The eyes seem to react upon ‘sight’ of a real human as if the created is a feeling, emotion filled, sentient being as well. It is not.

So many books, movies and plays have been written about the bizarre setting of such a thing happening, yet here we are and the temptation to go from human beings with the ‘good, bad and the ugly’ of reality to the realm of selfish, self-centered ‘desire’ is dangerous.

In creating a new race of robots with (in the beginning) programmed possibilities within it will still be the product on the human being who fills it with data. In a human being is the ability to be frail, vulnerable, grow through facing fears and going beyond them. To take out the feeling, emotion base of what real people face seems the answer to everything. There would be a ‘partner’ who would be predictable in many ways if not all ways. The outcome would always be desirable to the ‘owner’.

The world is heading in a direction where the one not ‘created’ by man but by being born human would be most undesirable, in time. Who would want the unpredictable, prone to disease, addiction, and mental illness and susceptible to waves of grief human being? In fact who would want to be that?

We human beings are all of those things. We are being challenged in today’s world to come up with answers to the most horrifying dilemma of all time. Our young people are choosing suicide and drug overdose to cope with the heaviness of difficulties that have been passed down from generations before them.

Who hasn’t hoped for flight into fantasy and illusion to escape from being utterly devastated by fear and sadness? Mostly in today’s society the emotion accepted is anger. What flows underneath that is terrifying fear. “What if…?”

I think this show is the start of the worst possible ‘solution’ to our turmoil. The outcome of manufactured people would leave those of us human beings born into this world by another human being…undesirable.
